Five and Dime Cigar Box Guitars, founded in 2011, is reemerging after a hiatus. With a focus on handcrafted, historically inspired instruments, the aim is to honor the legacy of cigar box guitars while appealing to modern musicians. We offer unique instruments that connect players to the past.
Did you know?
Cigar box guitars, created in the mid-19th century, became popular among poor musicians, especially in the Mississippi Delta, where blues legends like Robert Johnson used them. Though less common in the early 20th century, they resurged in the late 20th century with the rise of DIY culture. Today, they are valued for their unique sound and historical ties to American music.
